North Surry moved its record to 8-3 after a shutout win over Carver at home on Thursday, 3-0.

The Lady Greyhounds are 2-2 in the Western Piedmont Conference.

Greyhounds Head Coach Shane Slate said the match against Carver afforded the Greyhounds to get in some playing time from the bench and look at depth.

Carver Head Coach Artanzia Acker said it was only the second volleyball game that the young team has played.

Acker said that it has been three years since Carver had a volleyball team, but said she is happy for the start.

She said the Yellow Jackets did not play with the initiative that she was hoping for. However, Acker said she will increase some training in fundamentals, endurance and expect initiative to win to increase.

The Lady Greyhounds will play Starmount and McMichael in a trimatch on Saturday. Play will begin at 10 a.m. at North Surry.
