Hounds take conference victory over South Stokes

WALNUT COVE — North Surry won their fourth conference match in a row against South Stokes on Thursday and lead the 2A Western Piedmont Athletic Conference standings with a 4-0 record.

North Surry won the first two sets 25-13, 25-10. South Stokes took the third set 25-22. The Hounds took the victory after winning game four 25-20.

According to, Surry Central is in second place with a 3-1 record. So far, Forbush is third, South Stokes fourth, Carver, fifth and West Stokes, sixth.

In conference play, Greyhound Malaya Johnson leads in hitting, kills, and blocks. Johnson ranks second in serves. Bailey Culler records first in assists and fifth in blocks. Erin March records second in blocks. Hound Taylor Hill ranks third in kills, and fourth in hitting. Morgan Hawks is third in aces and fourth in assists. Abby Golding ranks second in the digs category.
