Three Mount Airy tennis players finished in the top three in their age groups at the Mayberry Junior Open over the weekend.

Lady Bear Davi Barbour finished second and Jai Daniels third in the 17-18 age group, while Bree Hughes was third in the 15-16 group.

The event was scheduled for Friday and Saturday, but rains pushed the event to Sunday.

Bear Coach Scott Kniskern said the open event drew 44 players. Including singles and doubles, he said there were 51 entries in the tournament from a wide range of places.

There were players from Boone, Charlotte, Greensboro, Rocky Mount and even West Virginia, Kniskern said.
