WALNUT COVE —The North Surry Greyhounds pulled their conference record to .500 behind Blaze Acord’s three touchdown performance in a 42-14 victory over South Stokes.
Acord had 19 carries for 210 yards, quarterback Hunter Snow was 4 for 6 in passing and scored a rushing touchdown in the opening quarter. Dakota Goss led in tackles and carried eight balls for 58 yards and a touchdown. Goss also led in tackles.
If fact, the entire defense played well, said Lyons. He said Ty Harold also played well. Lyons said he was proud of the overall effort of the team after a heartbreaking loss last Friday against Surry Central by one point.
Dakota Goss got the first quarter started by punching in a touchdown at six minutes, Snow followed to close the quarter, putting the Greyhounds up 14-0.
Saura Jacquan Martin scored early in the second to make the score 14-7.
Soon after the Saura strike, Acord began his hot streak by getting out to the seams and running with a lot of speed. His first score in the second put the Hounds up 21-7. Martin returned the favor when he scored his second touchdown to put the score 21-14. Acord rallied back for another Greyhound touchdown putting the score Greyhounds 28-14 at half-time.
Acord and George Rumplasch each scored in the third, with Caleb Ramey perfect in PATS.
The Greyhounds will play Forbush at home on Friday.
