PILOT MOUNTAIN — For the second straight day, East Surry’s opponent went to the foul line more than 30 times.


In Friday’s game against Elkin, the Cardinals were able to pull out a win. They were not so fortunate against Forbush.


The Falcons converted 24 of 31 free throws and went on to beat the Cardinals 62-49 in the Thanksgiving Invitational on Saturday at East Surry High School.


Calyn Davis finished with 15 points for Forbush, which led 27-22 at halftime and pushed the lead to nine points after three quarters.


Sydney Moseley scored a game-high 21 points for East Surry, and Gabi Jessup finished with 16. The Cardinals hit 11 of 16 at the free throw line.


East (2-1) will try to bounce back from its first loss of the season on Tuesday against in-county rival Surry Central.
