Six local youth baseball teams finished in the top three of tournaments this week.


In the Cal Ripken leagues, the four age groups from nine to 12 played area tournament to decide who would advance to play in the state tournaments next week.


The 9-and-under teams played in Statesville this week. The Surry North all-star team finished second behind East Rowan. Yadkin finished in third.


Those teams will travel to Lexington to play at Reeds Community Field July 9-14.


The 10-and-under teams played in Westfield this week. The Surry South all-stars finished second behind East Rowan. The Surry North team was third.


Those three will travel to Hildebran to play July 11-16.


The 11U teams played in East Bend this week. Surry North took first place. Yadkin was second and Surry South third.


These three head to Claremont to play in Bunker Hill Park July 9-14.


The 12U teams were in White Plains. Surry North defeated Lenoir for first place, while Yadkin was third.


The 12U championship will be July 9-14 in Huntersville.
