Eve Alexandra Gillespie and Wesley Gray Trotter were married at 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Mount Airy. The Rev. Eric Lanier officiated. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Howard Gillespie of Mount Airy. She is the granddaughter of Frances Booker Gillespie of Mount Airy and the late Harold Lloyd Gillespie Sr. and the late Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Clinton Bateman of Mount Airy.
The groom is the son of Wilson Davis Trotter Jr. and Kathryn Zeliff Trotter of Charlotte. He is the grandson of Elizabeth Cooper Trotter and the late Wilson Davis Trotter Sr. of Greensboro and Elizabeth Sink Zeliff of Charlotte and the late Irvin Henry Zeliff.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white gown of sheer silk organza with alencon lace appliques, an open-scalloped neckline and cap sleeves with a chapel-length train. The gown also was worn in 1979 by the bride’s mother, Linda Bateman Gillespie, at the wedding of her parents.
Jillian Gillespie Roach of Winston-Salem, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Alexandria Olsen Beacham, Natalie Rita Faberman, Kellye York Fussell, Allison Louise Unumb, and Jordan Emily Yokeley, all of Charlotte; Amelia Nicole Moody and Elizabeth Johnson Morrison of Mount Airy; Elizabeth Ann Norkus and Jo Elizabeth O’Neal of Raleigh; Kelly Ann Reda of Arlington, Virginia; and Katie Michelle Stultz of Reidsville.
Wilson Davis Trotter III and Abbott Lee Trotter, brothers of the groom, served as the best men. Groomsmen were brother of the bride, John Howard Gillespie Jr., of Raleigh; brother-in-law of the bride, Robert Wayne Roach III of Winston-Salem; Boyd Campbell Davis of Colorado; Eric Jerome Fehr, Christopher Michael Klein, Jared Raymond Londry, Robert Braxton Pearce, and David Patrick Stewart, all of Charlotte; Benjamin James Herboth of California; and Benjamin Chase Smith of Rural Hall.
The bride is a graduate of Mount Airy High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Appalachian State University. She is employed by Carroll County Public Schools as a first-grade teacher.
The groom is a graduate of Myers Park High School. He received a bachelor of science degree in business management from North Carolina State University and is employed by Rogers Realty and Auction as an auction coordinator.
Following a wedding trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, the couple will reside in Mount Airy.
