Abigail Hoover and Justin Kirkman exchange vows in outdoor ceremony at Rosa Lee Manor

Abigail Jean Hoover and Justin Dale Kirkman exchanged vows Oct. 27, 2012, in an outdoor ceremony at Rosa Lee Manor in Pilot Mountain. The 5:30 p.m. wedding was officiated by the Rev. Ted Turner.

The bride is the daughter of Barbara Sears Hoover of Durham and Jeffrey V. Hoover of Gardner and the granddaughter of Phyllis Holzer of Traverse City, Mich., Earl Sears of Elkhart, Ind., and the late William Hoover and Isabelle Hoover, who were of Adrian, Mich. She is a graduate of East Chapel Hill High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University, where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. She is employed with Randolph County Schools.

The bridegroom is the son of Gary and Lavonda Kirkman of Ararat, Va., and grandson of Opal Bateman of Ararat, Va., and the late Donald Bateman and Madeline Kirkman of Mount Airy and the late Ellis Kirkman. He is a graduate of Mount Airy High School and received a bachelor’s degree from Western Carolina University, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. He is employed by Structural Steel of Carolina in Winston-Salem.

Musicians for the ceremony were Andrew Sears Hoover, brother of the bride, and David Long.

The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore an elegant ivory strapless gown with lace and beading, featuring a trumpet skirt with godet inserts at the hemline.

The maid of honor was Marcella Lanius of Asheville. Bridemaids were Sophia Davis of New York City, N.Y.; Jordyn Jenkins of Southern Pines; and Jennifer Boone of Marshall. They wore apple red strapless chiffon dresses with short skirts, featuring a ruched bust with asymmetrical hemline.

Ashley Williams served as flower girl.

Gary Kirkman served his son as best man. Groomsmen were Kyle Ambrose of Eden; Benjamin Hittinger of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and Corey Coe of Mount Airy. Ushers were Jacob Ayers of Greensboro and Kevin King of Ararat, Va.

A reception was held following the ceremony at Rosa Lee Manor hosted by the bride’s parents.

Lauren Williams was guest registrar. Steve Scott of Airmont Florist designed the flowers.

Following a wedding trip to Key Largo, Fla., the bridal couple resides in Greensboro.

A rehearsal dinner was hosted by the bridegroom’s parents at Rosa Lee Manor.
