MOUNT AIRY — Mr. James Barnes, 47, of Mount Airy, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013. He was born on Oct. 5, 1965, in Forsyth County to the late Hubert Madison Barnes and Ruth Dorsett Robertson. Mr. Barnes was disabled and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Barnes is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Kenny (Amy) Barnes of Westfield; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth Anderson of Winston-Salem, Tamothy (Larry) Shoaf of Lexington and Nora (Dan) Schuller of Winston-Salem; uncle, Samuel “Bill” Barnes of Pinnacle; aunts, Mallie (John) Shelton, Hazel Barnes Moser, both of Pilot Mountain, Barbara “Jean” (Roy) Berrier of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Cox-Needham Chapel with the Rev. Lonnie Gunter officiating. Interment will follow at Pilot Mountain City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to God’s Helping Hands Ministry of Mt. Airy, 821 W. Pine St., Mount Airy, NC 27030. The family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to his friends and neighbors from his community for their outpouring of love and friendship for James.
