PILOT MOUNTAIN — Mount Airy finished third in the Wildcats Challenge this week at Pilot Knob Park.

The Bears were one of six schools taking part in the golf tournament hosted by West Stokes.

Two 4A schools took the top spots; Mount Tabor finished with a 151, and Reynolds was second with a 154.

The Bears shot a 162, five shots better than Forbush and 13 better than West Stokes.

North Forsyth was last with a 177 despite one of its players tying for the medalist honor.

Joe Shore, North Forsyth, and Reed Haley, Mount Tabor, shot a one-over 36 for nine holes.

Mount Airy’s Bailey Bouma was tied for third, one shot back at 37, with Cole Nastasi of Mount Tabor.

Three players tied for fifth at 38: Tabor’s Chris Snowden and Reynolds teammates Jack Speer and Alex Ruley.

Tying for eighth at 39 were Austin Watkins, West Stokes, and Reynolds’ Hudson Helms and Dillon Wilson.

After Bouma, the other three Bears contributing to the scoring were Aaron Lewis, 40, Cody Hodges, 42, and Will Smith, 43.

The Northwest Conference season kicks off Wednesday at Beaver Creek Golf Course, hosted by Surry Central. All four local schools are scheduled to take part.
