Reeves Community Center is holding its first ever recreational volleyball league signups for children ages 6 through 12, Aug. 3 through 7.
There are three separate divisions scheduled, 6- through 8-year-olds, 9- and 10-year-olds and 11- and 12-year-olds with games beginning at either 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m.
The season is scheduled to run Aug. 20 through Oct. 1. Registration is $40 for Mount Airy residents, $50 for non-residents, with a 20-percent discount for Reeves Community Center package holders. For more information contact Reeves Community Center at 786-8313.
Fall ball signups
Reeves Community Center fall baseball and softball registration occurs from Aug. 3 through 7 at Reeves. Baseball registration is for the 8-to 10-year-old minor league division and the 11- and 12-year-old major league division. Softball registration is for the 10-and-under and 13-and-under squads. Both baseball and softball costs are $40 for Surry residents and $50 for elsewhere. A 20-percent discount is available for RCC package holders.
Soccer signups
Surry County Parks and Recreation is holding soccer league signups until Aug. 15 for children ages 4 through 14. Registration is $35, with a birth certificate and completed registration form required. Download registration forms at www.co.surry.nc.us. Game days include weekdays, Saturdays and occasionally Sundays.
Game locations include Fisher River Park, Elkin Municipal Park, Chatham Park and Riverside Park. All players and coaches are required to attend a soccer screening Aug. 22 at Fisher River Park beginning at 9 a.m. Practice nights will vary. Surry Storm tryouts
Surry Storm Girls Basketball Club will hold tryouts Aug. 16 at Mount Airy Middle School. See below for times and ages. Third and fourth grade tryouts will be from 1 until 2 p.m., fifth and sixth grade from 2 to 3 p.m., seventh and eighth grade from 3 until 4 p.m. and ninth grade and up from 4 until 5 p.m.

Adult Volleyball meeting

Officials clinic
The Surry Basketball Officials Association will be hosting a basketball referee clinic beginning Sept. 20 at 6 p.m. at Reeves Community Center. The Surry County Sports Hall of Fame is accepting applications for future members. Hall of Fame nominations recognize individuals for outstanding achievement in the field of athletics as a player, coach or administrator. Ring of Honor nominations recognize individuals, teams, corporations or companies that have made a significant impact on the local sports scene.
Nomination applications may be obtained at Surry County Parks and Recreation Department, Elkin Recreation and Parks Department, Armfield Civic Center or Reeves Community Center.
