MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Gary Mose Cockerham, 48, of Mount Airy, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013. He was born in Forsyth County on Feb. 18, 1964, to Louise Stanley Hopkins and to Andy Mose Cockerham. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jasmine Brooke and Chris Danley of Mount Airy; son, Caleb Andrew Cockerham of Mount Airy; grandson, Isaiah Danley; mother, Louise Stanley Hopkins of Mount Airy; father and stepmother, Mose and Linda Cockerham of Dobson; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Missy and Mike Flippin of Lowgap, Sandra Christoph of Lowgap and Savanna and Chris Badgett of Mount Airy; two stepsisters and stepbrothers-in-law, Jami and Teddy Guynn of Ararat, Va., and Amy and Joel Jones of Dobson; one brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Misty Cockerham of Lowgap; and his stepgrandparents, James and Geneva Key of Dobson. Mr. Cockerham was preceded by his grandparents, Jobie and Maggie Stanley and Coy and Ruby Cockerham. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Oak Grove Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Rev. Alton Bledsoe and the Rev. Trent Lyons will conduct the services. The family will receive friends on Wednesday one hour before the service at the church. Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson is serving the Cockerham family. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gary Cockerham Burial Fund, c/o Mose Cockerham, 125 Brindle Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
