MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Laura Elizabeth Harrison Dezern, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home. Born in Surry County on May 22, 1920, to the late William and Verlie Mae Fowler Harrison, she was a faithful member of Snow Hill Baptist Church for nine decades. She was a loving homemaker and mother cherished by family and friends. She shared her bountiful love until the very end with all who graced her life with their presence. She is survived by one daughter, Janie Dezern White of Elkin and fiancé, Nolan Boyles of Dobson; a son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Tina Dezern of Winston-Salem; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Latisa White of Elkin with special companion, Jake Edwards from Siloam; and one sister, Gracie Holcomb of Elkin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Odell Dezern; three sisters; and four brothers. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, with burial to follow in the Snow Hill Baptist Church cemetery. The Rev. Mitchell Robertson will conduct the services. The family will receive friends at Moody-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of her service. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care at 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
