The Greater Mount Airy Area Habitat For Humanity is planning a fundraising 5K walk/run this spring.
Organizers are planning to hold the 5K on May 11 at 10:30 a.m. The course will take participants around the Cross Creek Country Club golf course.
The local Habitat affiliate is celebrating its 20th year helping needy families secure housing.
“To date we have served a total of 39 families locally and 21 families globally,” Executive Director Lynn Wilkes stated in a news release this month.
“Habitat partner families work hard to positively change their lives,” Wilkes said. “They invest hundreds of hours into building their Habitat home and the homes of others. And when construction is finished, they repay the entire amount it costs to build their new home in low monthly mortgage payments at zero-percent interest.”
The cost to participate in the 5K is $20 for teens and adults and $5 for children younger than 12.
