MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Pearl Florence Howlett Pyles, 75, of Mount Airy, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, from the Woltz Hospice Home. Mrs. Pyles was born in Patrick County, Va., on Dec. 27, 1936, to George Eldridge and Sadie Gunnell Howlett. She was a devoted Christian mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who dearly loved all her family, friends and neighbors. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Stephen Jeffreys of Mount Airy, Susie and Donnie Wilson also of Mount Airy and Robin and Billy McDowell of Salisbury; a daughter-in-law, Monica Spencer of Mount Airy; grandchildren, Holly Busick and husband Brian, Cory Spencer and wife Jessie, Mandy McDowell, Matthew Jeffreys and Garrett Jeffreys; great-grandchildren, Courtney and Clay Busick and Nadia and Brianna Cannon; a sister, Lucille Mears of Mount Airy; and two special sisters-in-law, Virginia Howlett and Mrs. Victor Pyles. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pyles was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Spencer; her second husband, Lawrence J. Pyles Sr.; a son, Tony Spencer; a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Busick; a sister, Thelma Lee; brothers, Roy, Arlis, Claude, Lawley, Arthur and George Howlett Jr.; and a special nephew, Joey Mears. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, at The Salvation Army by Majors Michael and Susan Rodgers. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
