- The Mount Airy Police Department is investigating a Tuesday night incident in which someone allegedly attacked a customer in a convenience store, damaging merchandise in the process. A black-male suspect about 30 years old committed the assault at the Super C store on East Pine Street, police said, causing $100 in damage to a sunglasses display along with damaging several pair of glasses and snacks at the store. No arrest had been made at last report.

- A stereo system valued at $400 was discovered missing Tuesday from an unsecured 1990 Jeep Wrangler owned by April Dawn Webb of West Pine Street. The theft occurred sometime during the night while the vehicle was parked at Webb’s residence, and involved a JVC car stereo unit and a black-carpeted subwoofer system. The case remains open for further investigation.

- Another vehicular break-in was reported Monday by Donald Allan Scott of Marshall Street, resulting in the theft of more than $300 in property including two Garmin GPS systems and four credit cards. The items were taken from Scott’s unlocked vehicle sometime during the weekend, with the case remaining open for further investigation.

- Christina Renee Stotler, 23, of 136 Coach Light Lane, Dobson, was cited for larceny Tuesday after she allegedly took an assortment of clothing and cosmetics valued at $91 at Wal-Mart. Stotler is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Aug. 26.
