• Property owned by the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department was stolen Friday from a Mount Airy roadside in an industrial area, according to city police department reports. The loss involved a backpack containing a Motorola HT1250 portable radio with a lapel microphone being taken from 1515 Woltz St. The stolen property is valued at $500.

• A utility trailer valued at about $2,450 also has been stolen from a Mount Airy business. The 6x12 unit owned by Burton Signworks Inc. was removed from a parking lot at the company’s facility on Riverside Drive, based on a report made last Wednesday.

• Tabitha Jean Smith, 28, of 126 Doe Run Lane, was cited for larceny Thursday at Walmart, where she is accused of concealing clothing and food items valued at $29 and leaving the business without paying. The merchandise was recovered and Smith is to be in Surry District Court on Oct. 16.

• Nicholas Shane Snider, 26, of 799 W. Lebanon St., is facing a larceny offense from an incident last Wednesday at Walmart, where he allegedly took a Sony HDMI cable valued at $26. Snider is slated to be in District Court on Oct. 2 and has been banned from the store.

• The theft of a $400 cell phone occurred last Wednesday at the Red Barn business on Worth Street. The LG Ignite smartphone, owned by Red Barn employee Cindy Urquiza, was stolen from a restroom.

• Doil David Hubbard III, 20, of New Bern, was cited for larceny last Wednesday for allegedly taking a 12-pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer at Walmart. Hubbard’s District Court appearance was set for Oct. 16.

• A Mount Airy woman was served on Sept. 4 with warrants for offenses of larceny and possession of stolen goods. Marnita Ceasar Duncan, 50, of 125 Rickey Lane, is free on a written promise to appear in District Court on Oct. 11. Details of the alleged violations were not listed.

• The larceny of a license plate, number BCH6702, was reported on Aug. 30. The tag was taken from a 1990 Chevrolet Lumina owned by Shelby Marie Luskey of Springs Road while it was parked along that route after breaking down near Luskey’s home.
