• A larceny offense was issued Monday against a Mount Airy woman who allegedly had taken merchandise the day before from Dollar General on South Main Street, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. Anicka Kendall Strickland, 34, of 504 Circle Drive, is accused of stealing a pocketbook, soft drinks and other items from the store, valued altogether at about $40. A description was obtained for the vehicle Strickland was in and she was located at her residence, with the property recovered. Her District Court date was set for Oct. 24.

• Two teens were cited for larceny Friday at Walmart. Yana Welch, 18, of 285 Alicia Lane, Mount Airy, and Hayden Brooke Ayers, 17, of 162 N. Big Oak Lane, Lowgap, are accused of taking candy and jewelry from the store, respectively, which was recovered. The two are scheduled to be in District Court on Nov. 6. The property was recovered.

• A catalytic converter valued at $200 was cut and removed Saturday from a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by John Mark Ferrell, a resident of Southridge Place. The theft occurred at the Lowe’s hardware store, where Ferrell works.

• Michael Allen Mitchell, 38, of 745 Galax Trail, is facing violations of second-degree trespassing and being intoxicated and disruptive stemming from a Thursday disturbance at Goober’s, a restaurant on North Andy Griffith Parkway. Mitchell had previously been banned from the establishment by its owner. He is slated for an Oct. 29 District Court appearance.

• Three black metal chairs valued at $150 were discovered missing Saturday from the exterior of Independence Amoco on Independence Boulevard.

• Police were told on Sept. 18 that a known individual had cashed a fraudulent check at Eddie’s Zip Foods on North Andy Griffith Parkway and received an undisclosed sum of money. The check was drawn on the account of LKQ Raleigh Auto Parts.

• Merchandise was reported stolen on Sept. 18 at Sally’s Beauty Supply on Rockford Street, where an unknown suspect concealed hair dye inside clothing and left without paying.
