• A Monday break-in at a Mount Airy business netted the theft of a safe and $10,000 in cash, according to city police department reports. The crime occurred at The Mouse Pad, an Internet cafe on North Andy Griffith Parkway, as a result of a forced entry during the early morning hours. In addition to the loss of the money, the Sentry safe is valued at $175.

• Billy Ray Roberts, 19, of 303 Orchard St., was arrested at his home Monday on charges of possession of stolen property, a felony, and misdemeanor larceny. Police took Roberts into custody on outstanding warrants for the offenses which had been filed on Oct. 2 in Yadkin County. He was held in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and is to appear in Yadkin District Court on Nov. 20. Other details regarding the alleged violations were not listed.

• An embezzlement case was reported on Oct. 15 involving Creekside Cinemas on East Bluemont Road, where an employee is alleged to have stolen $278 in cash the day before. No information on a possible arrest could be immediately obtained.

• Elizabeth Ann Johnson, a Pilot Mountain resident employed by Northern Hospital of Surry County, reported the theft of a scent warmer valued at $40 on Oct. 15. The victim advised that it was stolen while unattended in a locker room at the hospital.
