MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Ethel Correne Payne Rogers, 77, of 816 W. Haymore St., Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Rogers was born Dec. 1, 1935, in Carroll County, Va., to the late Sanders and Maude Helm-Stuttler Payne. She was retired from Pine State Knitting Co. and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Danny Towe of Cana, Va., and Vickie and Robert Jones of Mount Airy; one son, Randy Rogers and his friend Sandy McCormick of Copeland; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Etta Adams and her friend Jim Calloway of Lewisville and Ellie Anderson and her friend Larry Watson Effie and John Lawrence, all of Winston-Salem; and a special friend, Haywood Hawks of Cana. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Cayden Morton; one sister, Edith Horton; and a brother, Edgar Lee Payne. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with services conducted by the Rev. Richard Hawks and Mr. Darrell Hazelwood with burial to follow in the Flower Gap Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family would like to give a special thank you to all her daughters at Twelve Oaks. Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
