Surry native robe sponsor for Miss Universe competition

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Surry County native Tina Woodruff, president and designer of Simple Pleasures Inc, has announced that Simple Pleasures, Inc. has been selected as the official robe sponsor for the 2012 Miss Universe Competition. The live telecast is scheduled for Dec. 19 at 8 p.m. on NBC and will be held at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev.

Nearly 90 contestants will be given short robes in a variety of fabrics from her signature Night and Day collection. Each robe is made from the finest domestic cotton and sewn in the United States.

Simple Pleasures Inc. is a ladies fine sleepwear and loungewear company. Woodruff began designing and sewing gowns her small apartment outside Nashville. Twenty-two years later she has developed a large collection of elegant and sophisticated sleepwear and loungewear that is sold in many upscale boutiques throughout the United States and Canada. Woodruff has been featured in such publications as Southern Lady, Victoria, and Glamour magazines. She will be the featured artist in the January 2013 edition of Jewelry Affair magazine showcasing her latest endeavor in jewelry and accessory design.

Woodruff and her husband now reside in Murfreesboro. She is a native of Surry County with a B.S. in clothing and textile design from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
