This large oak tree fell in the yard of Andy Simpson, 435 Rock Hill Church Road, Ararat, Friday night during a strong wind and lightning storm. According to Jared Simpson, he was sitting in the living room of the home watching television when he heard a crackle from the lightning. He then slowly heard the loud splitting noise of the tree falling and a thud when it hit the ground. He said they were thankful it didn’t hit the house.
