MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Joan Patricia Law Southern Wood, 63, of Mount Airy, went to her heavenly home Monday, Nov. 19, 2012, from the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Wood was born in Alamance County on Jan. 3, 1949, to Alma Mae Corder and the late James Franklin Law. She was retired from Central Continuing Care and was a member of Imogene Baptist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Joan Michelle Hargrave of Mount Airy; a son, Larry Michael Southern of Mount Airy; two grandchildren, Dakota Southern of Greensboro and Joshua Smith of Mount Airy; her mother, Alma Mae Corder Law of Mount Airy; two sisters and brother-in-law, Jean Cassell Byrd of Dobson and Rhonda and Wayne McCraw of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Debbie Law of Mount Airy; a special niece, Brandi Lawson of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; special granddogs, Gino, Snuggles and Daisy; and a special friend, Judy Tate of Mount Airy. In addition to her father, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Wood; a brother, Jesse Leonard Law; and a niece, Candy Jean Gunter. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Imogene Baptist Church with Brother Ken Aman and the Rev. Dink Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the old Imogene Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.
