Ghosts, Goblins & Miss Gertrude

Angela Llewellyn reads a tale from the book “Half-Minute Horrors” Sunday night during the Ghosts, Goblins & Miss Gertrude event. The 1903 Gertrude Smith House in Mount Airy provided the perfect setting for a variety of ghost stories for both younger and older listeners, with Halloween decorations placed throughout the home adding to the atmosphere. Many of those attending also wore costumes.

Then ask the firefighters and police officers that protect your behind how much they make , then ask them how much more money you make working for the City of Winston Salem . Also your son gets free medical insurance from the military, how we'll does he eat. You know nothing about how well these guys and girls make ends meat all you won't to do is open your mouth and let the citizens know why the voted for someone incompetent like you. Who is this idiot Shirley Brinkley I bet her son that is some kind of a officer would not drive a garbage truck for what these guys make she has no clue the City of Mount Airy has some of the most under paid employees in the area. The also had there retirement cut a few years back, and no raise till now. Lady why don't you resign or get the facts right, you should be standing behind your people instead of judging and saying they eat well when in reality you have no idea what they go through you clown!!

If I still lived in the area, I would be printing and posting advisories to put on these containers. Individuals should be made aware that anything they donate to these specific receptacles will only benefit a private company and Chinese citizens. There may be more details I'm missing, but an individuals desire to make money should never be confused with, or trump a charitable organizations desire to help the community. Thank you Mt. Airy News for making people aware of this shameful intrusion, and thank you to the commissioners for initiating an end to the practice.
