The North Surry Greyhounds won 3-0 in a decisive victory over the South Stokes Sauras by serving really well, and reading their attackers on defense, said Greyhounds Head Coach Shane Slate.

The total scores were 25-12, 25-5 and 25-18. The Greyhound girls remain undefeated in the conference and will play either West Stokes Wildcats (8-8) or North Stokes Vikings (8-8) today in the final playoff match.

The Greyhounds’ serves pounded at the Sauras all night keeping the Sauras on their heels. In the last match, Sauras played well defensively, but it was Kristina Rumplasch who went for the final kill giving the Greyhounds their last point to end the set.

Rumplasch said she was happy with her own game and the team’s as well. “We were passing and hitting well,” and “playing as a team,” she said. Of her last slam of the game that ended the match, Rumplasch simply said, “I like to dominate.”

Others going for the kill Monday against the Sauras were Molly Martin with 11, Malaya Johnson with seven, and Taylor Hill with six.

In the digs category, Maddison Hawks had 14, Taylor Hill had five and Molly Martin had five. Bailey Culler assisted beautifully as usual throwing in 27.

The Greyhounds also blocked beautifully with Erin March defending with five and Malaya Johnson with four.

Martin was a perfect 14/14 in serves and had four aces. Bailey Culler served 15/16 and had three aces and Rumplasch served 11/12.
