<p>David Broyles | The News</p><p>This Mount Airy Fire Department Fire Engine and Command vehicle take up positions in front of the Thai Cafe Monday afternoon. Two more fire engines and a ladder truck responded to a fire call at 12:44 p.m. Assistant Chief Chris Fallaw said members of the restaurant staff smelled electrical wiring burning and saw smoke from an area of the wall and called for assistance. Fallaw said a grill had been set too close to the wall and burned a small area of the wall. No injuries were reported in connection with the fire and the restaurant was expected to be re-open by Monday night.</p>

Manager recommending water rate increase, no tax increase

Greater Mount Airy Habitat for Humanity volunteers at the Women Build Day Saturday would be the first to tell you warm hearts will stave off chilly temperatures. Police seek to reunite stolen property with owners
By all accounts, Robert Lee Adkins was a busy man during the first part of this year. Adkins, 32, was arrested by Mount Airy police on April 11, capping off a string of vehicle and residential break-ins that investigators estimate began in early January and stretched to the day he was taken into custody. Bicyclists selected from three routes: The 100-mile Tour de Mayberry, which includes a climb up Pilot Mountain; the 44-mile scenic Edwards Franklin House tour; or, the 19-mile tour of Mount Airy, which winds through many sites made famous by the Andy Griffith Show.</p>
