Annual SCC Health Fair broadens it focus

DOBSON — Surry Community’s third annual health fair broadened its scope Tuesday. The changes were fueled by the college’s focus on student services and sense of community as it observes its 50th anniversary.“The direction we went this year really is part of our school’s renewed emphasis on student services,” said SCC Coordinator of Health, Wellness and Development Anne Marie Hardy. “For lack of a better word, I wanted to make the fair represent more of a holistic approach to health. We have a massage therapist and an acupuncturist, for instance.”

All four of Mount Airy’s entries in the Northwest 1A Conference Tournament advanced to the semifinals on Thursday.In singles, East Surry’s Dan Moore defeated Atkins’ Ryan Bask in the first round 7-6, 6-1.
