DOBSON — A booster club of Surry Community College is holding a fundraising event Friday night on campus.
The SCC Knights Athletic Club is hosting its eighth-annual Basket and Tool Bingo in the college gym. Doors open at 5 p.m. with games beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Linda Davis, club vice president, said there will be several door prizes given away. Hot dogs, pizza, nachos with cheese, beverages and baked goods will be available for purchase.
The cost to play is $20 for 20 regular games, while a $30 combo provides 20 games, two bonus game cards and 12 door prize tickets.
The purpose of the Knights Athletic Club is threefold, according to Davis.
1. To promote student participation in all athletic teams;
2. To promote good sportsmanship and student-athlete success;
3. To raise funds for equipment, travel, athletic facilities improvement, uniforms, coaching supplements, athletic scholarships and other qualifying athletic needs.
The Knights Athletic Club board of directors consists of Frank Beals, Linda Davis, Wayne Edmonds, Sabra Long, Tony Martin, Nate Nixon, Tom Pendergraft, Susan Pendergraft, Tony Searcy, Dr. Gary Tilley, Mark Tucker, Marion Venable and Roy Vernon.
Knights Athletic Club volunteers include Blaine Bullington, Tim Collins, Jan Marion-Kiser, Becky Money, Amber Reid and Dr. David Shockley.
The current officers are president Wayne Edmonds, vice president Linda Davis, secretary Sabra Long and treasurer Tony Martin.
SCC offers baseball, softball, men’s and women’s golf and volleyball.
