To the Editor,

OK, Mr. Gulatt, lets go through this one more time! I will wait until you get out your calculator.......In less than two years the Obama administration outspent George bush by a margin of 7 to 1. Yes, all those agencies you listed may have to be eliminated. Period.

It is no stretch of the imagination to realize this country could go bankrupt. If that happens all Hades will break loose. It is going to hurt to tighten the belt, and will people take to the streets and further shut this country down like they are doing in European countries?

This country is in a mindset that the government owes them. It is not true. We all want to help the downtrodden but it upsets me to see people live lifestyles, get into trouble and not have to worry about the consequences. One example: an unmarried lady gets in the “family way,” goes to the social services to sign up for food stamps (outdated term) and WIC. The bureaucrat that works there asked her if she planned to breastfeed. She replied she is. The bureaucrat advised her to say she would not breastfeed, because she would be able to get a lot more “free” stuff!

Back to your main point Mr. Gullatt, I think the conservative philosophy is not to drive business offshore by taxing them to death but to generate more revenue by letting them prosper and, as you say, cut spending. I have more confidence in that than in raising taxes and continuing to spend at a nightmarish rate.

In conclusion, please be aware that people like you who disagree with basic philosophies and use degrading terms is what creates hostility in the present political environment. Right wingnut was very offensive to me, and what did that term accomplish? Did it further your cause or to further enlighten? We live in perilous times, and I fear for our nation. Only my faith in the creator of Heaven and earth can sustain me.
