MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Nellie Tucker Southern Goins, 90, of Mount Airy, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mrs. Goins was born in Stokes County, on Feb. 27, 1920, to the late Calvin and Lucy Wall Tucker. She was retired from Spencer’s, and was a member of Blue Ridge Tabernacle Church. Mrs. Goins is survived by a daughter, Kathleen Southern of Mount Airy; four sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Edna Southern of Stuart, Va., Ray and Faye Southern, Alex and Glenda Southern, Harvey and Sarah Southern, and Vicky Southern all of Mount Airy; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Goins was preceded in death by her first husband, Sam Southern; her second husband, Cecil Goins; two sons, Tommy Southern and Larry Southern; two sisters, Fannie, and Bonnie Tucker; nine brothers, Claude, Paul Raymond, Ross, Carl, Fount, John, Richard, and Tommy Tucker. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 8, 2010, at Moody Funeral Home by the Rev. George Lambert and the Rev. Ed Coins. Burial will follow in the Quaker Gap Baptist Church Cemetery in Stokes County. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
