MOUNT AIRY — Mrs. Doris Lee Gauldin, 89 of Mount Airy passed away Thursday, Nov. 25, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Gauldin was born in Surry County on Feb. 3, 1921 to the late James Oscar and Mary Jane Shaw Belton. Mrs. Gauldin was a homemaker and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy for over fifty years. She enjoyed flowers and cooking, but especially loved being grandma and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Freddy and Connie Cox of Virginia Beach, Va., James and Georgenne Cox of Virginia Beach and David and Shirley Cox of Pilot Mountain; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gauldin was preceded in death by her first husband; R. N. “Porter” Cox; her second husband, Dorsey E. Gauldin; a daughter, Nancy Cox Snyder; four sisters, Aline Chappell, Ruth Simmons, Louise Sprinkle and Betty Lou Copeland; three brothers, Carl Belton, Howard Belton and Haywood Belton. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 28, 2010 at Moody Funeral Home with Dr. Steve Lindsley and Dr. Paul Ridolfi officiating. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
