MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Grady Clifton “Cliff” Jessup, 78, of 168 Deatherage Road, Mount Airy, a loving husband, daddy and papa passed away Tuesday night at the Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Jessup was born July 28, 1932 in Surry County to the late Ora Wayne and Versie East Jessup. He was a veteran of the US Navy, was a retired salesman from Barker Brothers in New York for 38 Years, and was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church . Mr. Jessup was a member of the Surry County Planning Board, and was past member of the Flat Rock Rurtian Club. Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Donnie Deatherage Jessup of the home; two daughters and son-in-law, Vickie and Kenney Sutton of Cumming, Ga. and Robin Jessup Cooke of Mount Airy; three sons and daughter-in-law, Brad and Joyce Jessup, Marty Jessup, and Grady Jessup and Bonnie Snow all of Mount Airy; five grandchildren Kendra and Chris Price, Hanna and Sammy Power, Jeremy Cooke, Heather Jessup and Leslie Jessup, five great-grandchildren Madison Price, Karson Price, Kailey King, Kaden King and Weston Power, four sisters and brothers-in-law, Anna and Paul Cannon of Statesville, Wanda and Charles Martin of Stanleyville, Vera Sue Jessup of Kernersville, and Frankie Haynes of Mount Airy; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Darlene Jessup of Elizabeth City, Ora Weldon and Ann Jessup of Clingman, Paul and Edna Jessup of Asheville, and Larry Grey Jessup of Ga. In addition to his parents Mr. Jessup was preceded in death by four sisters Nina Mae Brewer, Ruth Haynes, Janet Harris and Shirley Ryan and by one brother James Junior Jessup. Funeral services will be held Friday Dec. 17, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Flat Rock Baptist Church with services conducted by Brother Don Collins and the Rev. Kenney Sutton with burial to follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 12 p.m. until time for the service at Flat Rock Baptist Church.
