Northern’s GI nurses play an important role in providing safe patient care for the treatment of reflux, abdominal pain, bleeding and cancers. Northern Hospital and other facilities across the country mark this week to honor the staff that provides this great service to their patients.
“Northern Hospital is fortunate to have the dedicated GI nurses that we have in Day Surgery,” said Brian Beasley, director of Surgical Services at Northern Hospital. “They do a great job in caring for the patients we serve and to meet each patient’s expectations during their visit.”
Northern’s day surgery nurses not only care for patients seeking treatment of the digestive system, but also preparing patients for surgery, cardiac catheterization, cardiac stress testing, IV antibiotic therapy, blood administration and pain management procedures just to name a few, Beasley said.
The hospital is honoring the week with a bulletin board displayed in The Surgery Center waiting room. The board will display information on the profession and celebrate the staff’s role in providing nursing care at Northern Hospital. During this week, the GI nurse of the year will be recognized by their peers to one dedicated nurse who excels in providing excellent care, serves as a mentor to others, participates in community and professional organizations, supports the mission of Northern Hospital and promotes a positive environment for its patients.
