MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Herbert “Herby” Dale Coble, 57, of Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Northern Hospital of Surry County. Mr. Coble was born in Surry County, Feb. 16, 1954 to the late Roland DeWitt and Georgia Childress Coble. He was the owner of Coble Electronics and Automation in Mount Airy. Mr. Coble is survived by two sisters and brother-in-law, Delane Portis, and Betsy and Jim Phillips all of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, George Coble and Maggie of Merced, Calif.; and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Coble of Mount Airy; a niece, Darnise Grey; nephews, Roger Portis, Jim and Jody Phillips, Mike and Doug Coble, and David, Roy and Greg Coble; and several great-nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coble was preceded in death by a brother, R.D. Coble; a brother-in-law, Jack Portis and a nephew, Larry J. Portis. Funeral services will be conducted at 4 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2011 at Moody Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dennis Barnett with burial to follow in the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
