• The theft of property valued at more than $500 was reported to the Mount Airy Police Department Wednesday. An LG pre-paid telephone, money and a Hamilton-Beach slow cooker were taken from inside the residence of Donald Calvin Gregg on Virginia Street.

• Meeka Maria Hargrave, a Spring Street resident, also reported Wednesday that money was stolen from a bedroom of her home that day.

• A larceny occurred Monday at Northern Hospital of Surry County, where a portable radio owned by the hospital, valued at $500, was taken. The property was listed as recovered and the case as closed/cleared, but no explanation was given in police records.

• A break-in and larceny were discovered Sunday at an unoccupied building on Independence Boulevard owned by Emory Dean Bray III, a local businessman. After the structure was broken into, miscellaneous copper and building materials were stolen, for which no value was listed.

• Barry Lee Pilson, 39, of 2018 Dyson Place, is facing violations of assault and second-degree trespassing, according to an Aug. 7 report. Pilson was served that day with outstanding criminal warrants on those offenses which had been issued on Aug. 4 with Stanley Eugene Gentry of Greentown Road as the complainant. Pilson is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on Sept. 9.
