Wednesday

9 a.m.-5 p.m. TAGS photo exhibit Mayberry - This is an exhibit of photos of people and places mentioned on “The Andy Griffith Show” that are in Mount Airy, lower level Andy Griffith Playhouse.

9:30 am-11 a.m. - Andy Griffith Museum lower level, James Best will have his art, photographs, and collectibles. He will be available for autographs.

11 a.m. - 6 p.m. - Silent Auction, golf collector’s items donated by Thad Daber at Cross Creek Country Club.

10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Aunt Bee’s Bake Sale, Mr. Tucker’s Apple Peel-off and Pickland sponsored by Mount Olive Pickles, front lawn Andy Griffith Playhouse.

10 a.m. - Mayberry Day’s Mayor’s Proclamation, Blackmon Amphitheatre, City officials and special guests. Free.

12:30-1:30 p.m. Pork Chop Sandwich Eating Contest, Snappy Lunch. Check in with staff at Snappy Lunch when with order and let the waitress know that you are entering. Ages 18 and over. Mary Dowell is final authority on all contest questions. The record is 8.

12:30 p.m. - Karen Knotts “Tied up in Knotts,” Earle Theatre, $15.

1 -2 p.m. - Mrs. Wiley’s Tea. The Chamber Chicks will host Mrs. Wiley’s Tea at the Chamber office on the corner of Main and Moore Avenue. Wear your hats and pearls for photos. The Chamber Chicks will be serving free punch and cookies as long as they last. 2 p.m. - The Doug Dillard Band at the Andy Griffith Playhouse, Join Doug and his TV sister, Charlene Darling (Maggie Peterson) and other guests for all the TAGS Darling moments. Tickets are $25.

2:30 p.m. - Mayberry Days Pie Eating Contest, in front of the Andy Griffith Playhouse, Hosted by the “Shake Down. Shake Down.” Chapter of TAGSRWC featuring “Aunt Bee’s Crustless Cream Pies.” 2 heats will be held. There will be first, second, and third place trophies for each heat. Register at the Information Station. Prizes will be presented by special Mayberry Days guests. Allan “Floyd the Barber” Newsome will lead the judging.

3:30 - 4:30 p.m. “Mayberry Minute Men” Youth Trivia Competition hosted by the “She Called Me a Creatster” chapter of TAGSRWC, Blackmon Amphitheatre. A souvenir Mayberry Fan $2 is required for participants and may be obtained at the Mayberry Days Information Station in front of the Andy Griffith Playhouse. Trophies and prizes for winners.

4 p.m. - Ronnie Schell and his Life After Gomer, a Mayberry-style, Las Vegas Comedy Act featuring great stories and film of hilarious outtakes and bloopers from Gomer Pyle, USMC. The show concludes with the World Premier of Greg Schell’s documentary of 2010 Mayberry Days celebrating the 50th Anniversary of TAGS. Ronnie will be autographing and selling copies of the documentary following the show. Earle theater. Tickets are $15.

4:30 - 5:30 p.m. World championship of TAGS Trivia, Blackmon Amphitheatre. Trivia competition is hosted by the “Hearty Eatin’ Men and Beautiful, Delicate Women” chapter of TAGSRWC. A souvenir Mayberry Fan $2 is required for participants and may be obtained at the Mayberry Days Information Station. Trophies and prizes awarded.

5:00 - 5:30 p.m. - Mayberry Days Barbecue Cook-off chief cook’s meeting, ladies dressing room, backstage, Andy Griffith Playhouse.

7 p.m. - Vessels of Clay, Southern Gospel, Great Harmony. Earle Theatre. Tickets are $10.

7 p.m. - The Doug Dillard Band, Andy Griffith Playhouse. Tickets are $25.

7 p.m. - Mayberry Day Barbecue Cook-Off showmanship judging followed by the arrival of the pigs, Andy Griffith Playhouse parking lot.

7:30 p.m. Rainjacket band, classic hits through the ages, Blackmon Amphitheatre. Tickets are $15. SAC passes will not be accepted.

9:30 p.m. VW Boys Salute to Mayberry with special guest, LeRoy McNees. Earle Theatre. Tickets are $10.

Saturday

8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Mr. Tucker’s Apple Peel-Off, $2. Competition will be held at the Information table in front of the Andy Griffith Playhouse. Steady hands have remarkable results. The trophy is awesome and will be presented at the information station at 4 p.m.

9 a.m. - Mayberry Days Parade, begins at BB&T and ends at the Andy Griffith Playhouse. Leading the parade will be Morgan Brittany – Opie’s first love and Emmy-award winning Director Bruce Bilson — plus the Potato Queen, Pork Princess, Pickle Queen, Little Miss Bacon Bit, and more.

10 a.m. - Little Blue Choo. Pick-up and drop off at Andy Griffith Playhouse parking lot. Discover the Loop on this guided tour of Downtown Mount Airy. Tickets are $5.

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Mayberry Days Silent Auction hosted by “Who’s Been Messin’ Up The Bulletin Board” chapter of The Andy Griffith Rerun Watcher’s Club in front of the Andy Griffith Playhouse at the marquee. Check out their special items including Frances Bavier’s Stationery and great one-of-a-kind handcrafted Mayberry items. Be back before Noon to claim your high bid and pay for items won. SAC Appreciates the Support of “WBMUTBB” Chapter of TAGSRWC.

10 a.m. - Mayberry Days Barbecue Sales, Andy Griffith Playhouse, fresh off the cooker barbecue will be sold until it’s gone. Sandwiches are $5 or barbecue will be sold for $10 a pound. Call 786-7998 to reserve Mayberry Days barbecue by the pound.

10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. James Best autographs, art show and sale, lower level Andy Griffith Museum

10:30 a.m. - Immediately following the parade, there will be autographs and memorabilia sales with special guests, lower level Andy Griffith Museum. Lines will form at each table – look for the end of the line signs.

11 a.m. - Mayberry Days Barbecue Cook-Off Awards presentation, Blackmon Amphitheatre.

11:30 a.m. - Southern Mountain Fire Cloggers, Blackmon Amphitheatre.

12 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. - Chester Jones Checkers Competition hosted by the “Mayberry” chapter of TAGSRWC. Sign up to play in the tournament at the information station. The tournament is a round robin and the trophy winner is the player who wins the most games. The trophy will be presented at the end of the tournament. Both practice and the tournament will be held in the lower level of the Andy Griffith Museum.

12:30-2 p.m. - Country Magic, Blackmon Amphitheatre. Free.

1 p.m. - Goober Says “Hay” Bale Toss and Corn Toss Championships sponsored by the Surry Central High School FFA. Located across the street from the Andy Griffith Playhouse beside their fried goodies booth.

2 p.m. - Professor Brower’s Lecture followed by TAGSRWC annual meeting Professor Brower’s guest is Bruce Bilson, Emmy Award winning Director and Assistant Director of TAGS 1960-63. Morgan Brittany will be introduced for Q&A following the Lecture. Earle Theatre. Tickets are $7.

2:30 p.m. - Colonel Tim’s Talent Time Matinee, Andy Griffith Playhouse. Tickets are $25.

2:30 - 4 p.m. - Mayberry IDLE - Register at the Information Station for this competition and receive a copy of the guidelines. Winners will perform during Colonel Tim’s Talent Time evening performance. Jeff Branch will host the show and judges will be on hand to select the winners. Blackmon Amphitheatre.

7 p.m. - Michael Hoover’s “Memories of Elvis” Earle Theatre. Tickets are $20/$15.

7:30 p.m. - Colonel Tim’s Talent Time, Andy Griffith Playhouse. Tickets are $25.

Sunday

9:30 a.m. - Mayberry Chapel led by Jan and LeRoy McNees with special Mayberry Days guests at the Blackmon Amphitheatre.

11 a.m. - Mayberry Days Goodbye Lunch at Sagebrush the official restaurant of Mayberry Days. Say good-bye to Mayberry friends and special guests. Sagebrush will be hosting special Mayberry Days guests throughout Mayberry Days.

2 p.m. - “Bad Teacher,” Earle Theatre. Tickets are $5.
