MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Curtis Holt Mayes, Age 82 of Mount Airy passed away Saturday Jan. 28, 2012 at the Central Continuing Care in Mount Airy. Mr. Mayes was born Jan. 18, 1930 in Surry County to the late Joseph and Grace Hawks Mayes, he was a retired car salesman with Friendly Car. Co. and attended Ladonia Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters and son-in-law Sherry and Ken Lutz of Greensboro and Deborah Hornaday of Mount Airy, one son Curtis Randy Mayes of Charlotte, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters Lena Mayes of Elkin and Hazel Nixon of Mount Airy and by one brother Bobby Martin. In addition to his parents Mr. Mayes was preceded in death by his wife Shirley Ann Glidewell Mayes. Graveside services will be held Monday Jan. 30, 2012 at 4 p.m. at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery with services conducted by the Rev. Tony Holder. There will be no formal visitation.
