PILOT MOUNTAIN — During the Pilot Mountain Board of Commissioners meeting on Monday at 7 p.m., the board will honor West Stokes Coach Jimmy Upchurch.
The Pilot Mountain native led his football team through a 16-0 football season in 2011. His team was the 2011 Northwest 1A/2A Conference champions, the 2011 2AA Midwest Sectional champions, the 2011 2AA Western Regional champions and the 2011 2AA State champions.
Todd Tucker, president of the Surry County Economic Development Partnership, will then address the board.
The board will also consider an ordinance on the disposal of fats, oils and grease into the sewer system.
The board will discuss and approve bids on the Pilot Center, Phase II project, in which two classrooms and a multipurpose space will be added to the center.
The board will then hear reports from each department of the town, before Town Manager Homer Dearmin gives the finance report and town manager’s report.
The board will go into a closed session to discuss economic development, legal items and closed session minutes.
After the board comes out of closed session, board members and the mayor will discuss any subjects that they feel are of concern the town.
