• Camera equipment valued at nearly $6,000 has been reported stolen from Walmart via a fire-exit door, according to Mount Airy Police Department reports. The lock on the door was damaged, enabling it to be used in the felonious larceny of Canon Powershot cameras, Nikon Advanced Camera Systems, Fuji Finepix cameras, Canon E05 Rebel cameras and Nikon Coolpix cameras. Eighteen individual items with a total value of $5,922 were removed, with damage to the fire-exit door put at $75. The crime was reported Monday, but is believed to have occurred in late March.
• A case of larceny by an employee was reported Monday at the Twelve Oaks assisted-living facility on Galax Trail. It involves a “known suspect” removing a fan in late March.
• A crime involving larceny and damage to property was discovered Monday at Bray’s Recapping Service on North South Street. Someone removed copper piping from an air compressor at the business, causing damage. A copper air shut-off valve was stolen along with assorted copper piping, with the loss put at $200.
• Deseray Deon Stallings, 31, of Maiden, is facing violations of larceny and second-degree trespassing as the result of an incident Sunday at Walmart. Stallings was stopped by store security personnel and found to be in possession of a DVD player and miscellaneous clothing items valued at $117, police records state. It also was discovered that she been banned from Walmart properties previously, which resulted in the trespassing offense. Stallings is scheduled to appear in Surry District Court on May 1.
