JACKSON
DOBSON — Mrs. Breeman Freeman Jackson, 94, of Dobson, entered the portals of Heaven on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home with her family by her bedside. She was born in Surry County on Feb. 25, 1918, to the late James “Jim” and Annie Viola Creed Freeman. Mrs. Jackson was a retired telephone operator from Virginia Telephone and a dedicated member of Central View Missionary Baptist Church, where she joined at the age of 12. She leaves to cherish her memory, a beloved grandson, Mike and wife Laurie Smith of Whispering Pines and Chip Barnes of Simms; five great-grandchildren, Spenser Smith, Garrett Smith, Megan Smith, Tyler Barnes and Katie Barnes; two special nieces, Faye Bragg and Sue Williams; and a very special friend, Cathy Lankford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Michael Draughn and Wade M. Jackson; a daughter, Arlene Draughn Smith; a granddaughter, Cindy Barnes; a sister, Viola Freeman; and two brothers, Porter and Richard Freeman. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Central View Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Travis Chipman, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Salem Baptist Church cemetery. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC 27017.
