PILOT MOUNTAIN — East Surry won Wednesday’s conference golf match by five strokes over Bishop McGuinness at Pilot Knob Park.

The Cardinals shot a 153 with their top four scorers, while Bishop shot 158. South Stokes was only three strokes behind at 161, while North Surry was fourth at 165. Only a dozen strokes separated the top four teams.

The Granite Bears tied with West Stokes for fifth place at 175, while Surry Central was just four shots back at 179. North Stokes was in last place with a 204.

The teams played here last week as East Surry’s home match, and this week it was West Stokes’ turn to host here.

North Surry’s Taylor Coalson was co-medalist last week and tied for top honors again today.

Coalson shot a 37 on a blustery day to tie with East Surry’s Dustin Holder and Bishop’s Jonathan Davis.

One shot back at 38 were Mount Airy’s Bailey Bouma and East’s Andrew Millsaps.

East teammates Drew Alley, Jordan Vogler and Joseph Marion all tied for sixth place at 39. Also shooting 39 were Ryan Wilson, North Stokes, and Keenan Denny, South Stokes.

On Monday, Bishop McGuinness hosts a match at Pine Knolls Golf Club in Kernersville.
