MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Joey Douglas Burch, 56, of Mount Airy, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at his home. Mr. Burch was born in Surry County on Jan. 29, 1956, to the late James Anderson Burch and Virginia Collins Burch Leftwich. He worked at Jenny’s Frame Shop before becoming disabled and was of the Baptist faith. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Carol Leftwich of Lewisville; four aunts, Annie Lee Vernon, Rachel Puckett and Ruth Holt, all of Mount Airy, and Hazel Surratt of Cana, Va.; niece, Valerie Cowden; and nephew, Jason Cowden. In addition to his parents, Mr. Burch was preceded in death by his stepfather, Roscoe Leftwich; a sister, Nancy Cowden; and a brother, Andy Burch. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
