To the Editor,
If the people of Surry County feel that marriage as it is now is so sacred, then why are there 12 divorces and only 7 marriages listed in Sunday’s newspaper? And why are the county commissioners supporting a resolution in favor of the anti-marriage amendment?
Because extending a basic human right to every basic human is too much trouble? You know, taxes and such. People are still going to follow their hearts when they decide who they are going to make a life-long commitment to. It saddens me and angers me when others, especially commissioners who should look out for the well-being of all their constituents, place obstacles in their way.
Enjoy your divorces. Don’t worry though. You can always make another life-long commitment.
