CAVANAUGH

MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Roy Brian (Butch) Cavanaugh, 70, of Mount Airy, passed away on Tuesday morning at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in King County, Wash., on July 17, 1941, to the late William Virgil and Helen Lucille Allen Cavanaugh. He was a member of Country Baptist Church and was retired from the US Coast Guard. Surviving are his wife, Martha Fly Cavanaugh of the home; one daughter, Shawn Kelly Cavanaugh of Vancouver, Wash.; two sons and daughter-in-law, Brian Patrick Cavanaugh of Arlington, Wash., and William Roy and Sheila Cavanaugh of Mount Airy; 13 grandchildren, Erin, Alexis, Dyllon, Brittany, Colby, Willie, Dalton, Brian, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Ethan, Faith and Ashley; one great-grandson, Kash Monical; one sister, Cass Jasso of Joseph, Ore.; and two brothers, Terry Cavanaugh and Bill Cavanaugh, both of Congress, Ariz. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, D. Michael Cavanaugh; and a son, Robert Troy Cavanaugh. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday morning, April 19, 2012, in the cemetery of Country Baptist Church, with the Rev. Wayne Davis conducting. The family will receive friends at the church fellowship hall following the graveside service. There will be no formal services held at the funeral home.
