CARTER
MOUNT AIRY — Mr. Walter Mitchell Carter, 81, of Mount Airy, died at St. John Hospital, Warren, Mich., in hospice on Sunday, April 8, 2012. Mr. Carter was born in Mount Airy on April 7, 1931. He worked as a police officer in Mount Airy for five years. Mr. Carter is a Korean War veteran. He moved in September 2011 to live with his daughter in Michigan. Mr. Carter has seven daughters, Anita Cardone of Indiana, Jean Cruz of Michigan, Joan Childress of Florida, Donna Mendez of North Carolina, Greta Knuth of New Jersey, Susie Platt of Georgia and Linda Pecorella of New Jersey. Mr. Carter has 21 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, May 12, at 3 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery.
