Mrs. Naomi Baker Epperson, age 79, of Pilot Mountain, widow of the late Gilmer Franklin Epperson, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Forsyth Medical Center

She was born on December 19, 1932 in Galax, Virginia, to the late Lafayette Jirl and Elsie Bartley Thompson.

Mrs. Epperson worked as a homemaker and was a member of Westfield Baptist Church.

Mrs. Epperson is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Steve (Tammy) Baker of Danbury, Darrel (Trish) Baker of Mt. Airy and David Baker of Glade Valley; two daughters, Deborah Baker of Winston-Salem and Donna Holmes of Pilot Mountain; one sister, Edna Custer of Woodlawn, VA; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Epperson was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and her first husband, Rever Kyle Baker; three brothers, Verlin, Marvin and Jirl Thompson; one sister, Carol Bumgardner; and one son-in-law, Chris Holmes.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, April 27, 2012 at Westfield Baptist Church, 6713 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053 at 1:00 P.M. with Dr. Joel Stephens officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery in Independence, VA.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 26, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made in floral tribute or to Westfield Baptist Church Building Fund, 6713 Westfield Road, Westfield, NC 27053.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at ICCU at Forsyth Medical Center for their compassion and excellent care.
