PILOT MOUNTAIN — The Lady Cardinals picked up a 3-0 soccer win over North Surry on Tuesday.

East Surry scored two goals in the first half and added an insurance point in the second.

Grace Snow booted home the first goal on an assist from Lillie Chavez, said Coach Bill Hart.

Later in the half, Chavez had another assist, this time to Panayiota Boutis.

In the second half, a pass went to Boutis, who took one step around the goalie and finished it off, Hart said.

“I thought our girls played well in the midfield and won a lot of 50/50 balls,” he said.

Senior keeper Jacquleyn Holshouser provided a shutout.

“Coach Dustin Webb’s girls never, ever gave up,” said Hart. “Their defense was great limiting our ability to finish opportunities.”

The win improves the Cards to 7-7-2 overall, 2-6-1 in the Northwest Conference.

East Surry travels to South Stokes on Thursday. North Surry travels to Mount Airy on Friday.
