Mr. Lester Wade Bryant, 80 formerly of Miami, FL and Mount Airy, passed away in St. Petersburg, Fl on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Mr. Bryant was born in Surry County May 23, 1931 the son of the late John Astor and Ella Leftwich Bryant. Mr. Bryant was retired as a paint contractor and was a veteran of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Granite Masonic Lodge # 322 AF & AM in Mount Airy for 55 years, and was a member of the Scottish Rite. Mr. Bryant was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Bryant is survived two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Bryant and Paul Gaston of Chevy Chase, MD, and Valerie and Gary Tobiczyk of Miami, Fl; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Theresa Bryant of Miami, Fl, and Donald and Fanny Bryant of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren, Kenneth Bryant, Jr. and wife, Janelys, Tiffany Enriquez and husband, Jarret, Jake Tobiczyk, and Peter Gaston. One great granddaughter, Ella Rose Enriquez. Two brothers and sisters-in-law, Shasta and Barbara Bryant of Winston-Salem, and J.A. and Claudia Bryant of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents Mr. Bryant was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Davis, and two brothers, Bill and Larry Bryant. Funeral services will be held Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Ivy Green Baptist Church with the service conducted by Rev. Lester Bryant with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Graveside rites will be conducted by the American Legion Memorial Honor Guard of Mount Airy, and Masonic Graveside rites by Granite Masonic Lodge # 322 of Mount Airy. Mrs. Levia Midkiff Eads, 92, of Winston-Salem, formerly of 305 Cadle Ford Road, Mount Airy, passed away Saturday morning, April 28, 2012 at Arbor Acres Retirement Community. Mrs. Eads was born April 2, 1920, in Surry County, the daughter of the late D.J. Midkiff and Willie Belle Mitchell Midkiff. Mrs. Eads retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Flat Rock Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dr. Marsha and Tony Bledsoe of Advance and Karen and Monty Vernon of Mount Airy; three grandchildren and their spouses, Dr. Chad and Ashley Bledsoe of Clyde, Christy and Paul Cooper of Catania, Sicily, and Jennifer and Jonathan Simmons of Mount Airy; three great-grandchildren, Drew Cooper, Dylan Cooper, and Jake Simmons; and a sister, Edith Midkiff McPeak of Mount Airy. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Eads was preceded in death by her husband, James Fred Eads; three sisters, Doris Midkiff Johnson, Ethel Midkiff Tesh, and Macy Midkiff McKnight; and three brothers, Glenn Midkiff, Dave Midkiff, and Ralph Midkiff. The funeral service will be held Monday, April 30, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Dr. Donald Schofield, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Charles Ray Thomas, 83, of Mount Airy, N.C., formerly of Gastonia, passed away Friday, April 27, 2012 at Northern Hospital of Mount Airy with his family by his side. Complete arrangements will be announced Monday, April 30, 2012. McLean Funeral Directors of Gastonia is serving the Thomas Family
