Two charity golf tournaments are set for this Saturday.

The Mount Airy Lions Club has an 18-hole tourney planned for Pine Ridge Classic Golf Course, starting at 8 a.m.

Then at 2 p.m. at the same course, New Venture Baptist Church will hold an event to benefit its building fund.

The Lions Club is calling its event the Samuel “Spec” Tillotson Memorial Golf Tournament.

The four-man teams will play captain’s choice with special prizes given for closest to the pin on holes three and 12.

The cost is $40 per person or $150 for a team. First place earns a $400 prize for the team to split, second is $200 and third $100.

Making a hole-in-one on the third hole gets the player a $5,000 prize. A hole-in-one on the 12th earns a new car.

The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Lunch will be provided. If a person wants to play, but doesn’t have a team, organizers will place the player on a team.

For more information, contact one of the following club members: Jimmy Harbour, 786-2070; Joby Smith, 786-7516; Roger Keck, 786-8507; Bill Joe Woodruff, 786-5523; or Ricky Eldridge, 719-6851.

New Venture Baptist Church starts at 2 p.m., but in case of bad weather the church has a rain date of June 2 at 2 p.m.

The cost is $40 per person and includes a meal. Prizes will be given away for longest drive and closest to the pin.

For more information, call Larry Thomas, 786-7322; Harold Flippin, 789-1898; or Larry Summer, 789-0470.
