To Mount Airy, the Main Street merchants, the chamber of commerce, and all who had a hand in the city winning the title of North Carolina’s favorite Main Street.
Of course, anyone who cast a vote in the online contest sponsored by the North Carolina Chapter of the American Planning Association had a hand in the victory, but it is really the long, hard years of work by those merchants, the chamber, city officials and others who have made Mount Airy’s Main Street what it is today.
And hopefully a few more people from outside the area will decide to visit Mount Airy to see what this town is all about, as a result of this contest.
*****
To local residents who have taken advantage of the early voting period to cast ballots in the upcoming primary.
While early voting takes away from the excitement of election day, it sure makes it more convenient for voters to take part in the elections, and we commend those who have done so.
In the end the government we have in place, for good or bad, is a result of people voting (or sometimes not voting), so it is always good to see people fulfilling their duty to vote.
